Meet a Happy Space client, Emma Farnen
Every month, we feature one of our amazing clients. Meeting and working with ambitious, creative women doing interesting work in Hong Kong is one of my favorite parts of being a professional organizer.
Everyone has their own reason for getting our help. Hear in their own words about their experience getting organized with us.
Meet Emma
Emma reached out to us after feeling like her Sai Kung home was always chaotic. She is a woman who is doing it all - a mother, wife, entrepreneur - all while having a full-time, successful career in product sourcing. With such a busy life, she was craving a sense of control over her home life, and that’s exactly what our team was able to give her!
Give us a quick introduction
I’m Emma, from the UK and have lived in HK for 18 years. I have a boy and girl and 4 step children, the twins live with us full time so in total at home we have 3 x 14 year old girls and a 12 year old boy. The older 2 are studying overseas. We have 3 dogs and 3 cats! Our house is busy and I love it, I love our crazy dinner times! I have a full-time job, and I have a small brand that I developed with my husband. (I’m very lucky as I have 2 helpers and a driver.)
Why did you decide to hire us?
I own my home, but it's not mine; I feel I have no control over it. The kids trash it, the helpers who are great don’t put things where I can find them and don’t manage the house so it feels like mine. I got to a Sunday, and it was my day to try and sort it out and make my house a home, but the kitchen was getting on top of me the most. Hence why I called in the big guns!
What was the most surprising part of the process?
The most surprising part was seeing everything in the kitchen out of the cupboards and wow did we have a lot and wow we had a lot of out of date food, items that no one knew what they do and just clutter. Clutter Clutter Clutter
How has the organization benefited you in your daily life?
I feel its benefits daily. I know exactly where everything is and I love how my cupboards don’t feel jam packed. The biggest difference came to me in an ah ha moment. One sunday we were preparing dinner, the kids were helping, my hubby was on the BBQ and we had the music on and I didn’t feel stressed. Everything flowed. I felt like my house was my home.
Did you have any hesitations about the service?
I was super excited to declutter. I have to say that brings me so much joy anyway. My biggest hesitation was could Nassim really do a better job than me. And that's a clear 100% she can. Nassim approaches home organising in such a clear methodical way that I know what she’s implemented will stick, it has so far. She takes you on the journey so it's yours and not just what she thinks it should be. Nassim takes an approach that I would never have thought of, she really thinks about how you use your space. Being part of the journey really helped my helpers as well and they have really embarrassed the results and want to maintain the process.

Relaxed.
Anything else?
I founded a diaper bag brand with my husband called Coco Alexander - named after my kids who inspired it. I developed the bag when my kids were babies and we launched it a few years ago. Use code HAPPYSPACE for 10% off!
