Meet a Happy Space client, Ziggy Makant

Every month we feature one of our amazing clients. It’s one of my very favorite parts of being a professional organizer: meeting and working with ambitious, creative women doing interesting work in Hong Kong.

Everyone has their own reason for getting our help. Hear in their own words about their experience getting organized with us.

Meet Ziggy

Give us a quick introduction

I am a mother of three young kiddos (one, four and seven years old). I have been a personal trainer since 2014 and have been focusing exclusively on Women’s Health-focused training since 2017. My favourite type of client is one in the perinatal period of her life (conception, pregnancy and postpartum). I’ve been working with mums in both a group class setting to rehabilitate, build strength or prepare for birth with typical weights-based gym exercises, and also building community through my fun babywearing workout classes, and guiding couples through physical birth preparation with my FitBirth Antenatal course.

Why did you decide to hire us?

I am regularly overwhelmed by the amount of “stuff” my family accumulates. Babies require so many clothes and contraptions for such a short period of time, and older children are always bringing home a new toy from school or a grandparent. Running my own business, managing a household along with children of different ages, in such a small space, is roughly challenging.

I initially reached out to help with our spare room which had become a catch-all junk room where we would just throw bicycles, scooters, and boxes of who-knows-what else. Happy Space helped me do a super speedy de-clutter, and organise the space using the storage options we already had, so I wasn’t having to purchase loads of additional items either.

I reached out a second time after I gave birth to my third baby to get her out of my bedroom by setting up her nursery. To achieve this, we had the big job of rearranging the configuration of my house. Decluttering and rehoming everything in my spare room to set our nanny up in there, moving my children’s bunk beds a room across, and setting up the baby’s nursery closest to my bedroom. Happy Space also helped me declutter my bedroom to be able to make space, and help me figure out my transitional postpartum wardrobe.

What was the most surprising part of the process?

My top surprise was how fast it all happened - I still cannot believe how much we achieved in just a few short hours both times. A close second was that the Happy Space helped me re-home items! This is always the trickiest part - getting the items out of my house, donating them or reselling them.

Three different shots of the organization process

How has the organization benefited you in your daily life?

The systems that the Happy Space set up are still in place and still make sense when I see them.

Did you have any hesitations about the service?

It can be really daunting and embarrassing inviting someone into your cluttered living space but the team was so neutral, encouraging and non-judgemental. I thought I would have to do lots of justifying why I needed to keep certain items, but whenever I felt stuck on what should stay or go, Nassim would ask a few guiding questions to help me figure things out, or would make suggestions on why one would keep an item.

What’s your favorite space we created?

A designated place for my tarot cards, crystals, and other “woo” items. It’s given prominence in my room and that brings me a lot of joy. I call it my serenity corner.
