But you probably have concerns. Will it be too expensive? Should I do it myself? What if I can’t keep up with the organization after?

This is our answer to all the myths that you’ve heard. Learn more about our approach and organizing philosophies with our explanations below.

By understanding the truth behind these myths, you can make an informed decision about hiring a professional organizer and experience the transformative impact we can have on your life.

Myth 1: Professional organizers are only for people with extreme clutter issues.

No, home organizers are not limited to helping people with hoarding tendencies or overwhelming clutter. Our clients have come from all messiness spectrums. We have clients that when you enter their house, you’ll ask “What mess?”, all the way to those who found items they’ve been searching for years.

This is because a home organizer's expertise extends beyond cleaning up and tidying a space. We possess a deep understanding of spatial design, storage optimization, and efficient workflow. We can assist individuals of all backgrounds, whether it's a busy professional seeking better time management or a family looking to create an organized home environment.

Myth 2: Hiring a professional organizer is a waste; I can just do it myself

Can you do it yourself? Maybe. Will you? Probably not!

While it's true that organizing spaces is something most individuals can attempt on their own, the value of a home organizer lies in our expertise, efficiency, and unique approach. We have worked with over 100 clients, and with that, we are able to quickly assess the organizational challenge and create effective solutions tailored to your needs. The benefits of having an organized home are endless, including great advantages for your mental health. So, treat organizing like a self-care activity - one that can help you live your best life!

Myth 3: I’ll be forced to get rid of all my belongings

Not all professional organizers are Marie Kondo! There are a number of organizing philosophies but for us, it’s all about finding the right fit for our clients. We work collaboratively with our clients to understand their lifestyles, preferences, and goals.

We strive to create a personalized organizational system that reflects our client's unique identity while maximizing functionality and efficiency. If you still have and cherish all your kid’s yearbooks, don’t worry! Not only will we not ask you to get rid of it, we’ll help you display it proudly.

Myth 4: Hiring a professional organizer means losing control over my space.

If you’re scared a professional organizer is going to take over your space and dictate what goes where - don’t be! Our role as your home organizer is to guide and support you to achieve your organizational goals, not to tell you how to live your life.

We spend time to understand your preferences and priorities about your home, to ensure that the final result aligns with your vision and lifestyle.  You entrust your helper or cleaner with making your space clean. You hire an architect or an interior designer to make your home beautiful. Trust us to make your place organized, efficient and functional!

Myth 5: Professional organizers only work with residential clients.

Professional organizers are not limited to working with residential clients alone. We offer our expertise to various settings, including commercial spaces, offices, and businesses of all sizes. For example, you can check out our organizing project for Retykle to create systems in their warehouse and showroom.

Our professional organizers optimize workflows, implement efficient storage solutions, and create a conducive environment that promotes focus and creativity. Whether you need assistance organizing your home, office or store, we can provide invaluable support.

Myth 6: I must be present during the entire organizing process

We get that you’re busy - that’s why you hired us! Normally, our process includes an initial call to discuss your space and assess your needs which is then followed by the purging and sorting piece.  After that, you are more than welcome to join in and help out, but otherwise, we can take over while you get to your other responsibilities.

The idea when hiring a home organizer is to ease your burden, so we are flexible and can accommodate your preferences and schedules.

Myth 7: Professional organizers only focus on physical clutter

Actually, our job as your professional organizer is to help create a mindset shift and equip you with the tools necessary to reduce your overall stress levels. We understand that it’s not just about making sure that your kids know where their school things are and that they look pretty.

We help create holistic solutions that help you manage stuff, but also a busy household schedule, expenses and even your digital devices. From computer files, emails, WhatsApp messages and photo collections, we can help you streamline your digital life, and keep it that way! Our aim is to create an environment where you can be your best self and thrive.

Myth 8: Home organizers only provide temporary fixes, not long-term solutions

A good professional organizer focuses on creating sustainable, long-term solutions rather than quick fixes. A big part of our work is to create systems that not only create a tidier, more organized space but also remove the guesswork and mental energy used in day-to-day tasks.

If you have your mail overflowing on the countertop, we don’t just hide it to look pretty. Instead, we work with you to create a system that allows you to sort through your mail on a regular basis, making sure you don’t miss any of the important stuff. By understanding your habits, routines, and unique challenges, we can implement effective systems that are tailored to your specific needs. Their goal is to empower you with the skills and tools necessary to maintain an organized lifestyle independently.

Myth 9: Once a professional organizer leaves, the clutter will return.

The biggest myth of them all - and it is absolutely false. Yes, you will need to put in some effort to maintain your organized space. However, part of the job of a professional organizer is to empower and equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to continue to operate effectively. Plus, we create systems that meld easily into your routine to make it easier to maintain (read more about our Habits & Systems approach).

For example, if your helper is always out of money to buy groceries, we can implement a system whereby you get a reminder to withdraw and also have a specific time and place to give it to them. By implementing the principles and systems introduced by a professional organizer, you can continue to enjoy the benefits of organized life in the long term.

Myth 10: Only people with big homes (or small homes) need professional organizers.

The belief that professional organizers are exclusively required for individuals with large homes is absolutely not true. Home organizers are critical when working in tighter, more restricted spaces. Given the sizes and particularities of Hong Kong homes, a home organizer is able to help you streamline your daily living by decluttering, creating efficient and custom storage solutions, and establishing systems that promote order and functionality.

For people with larger spaces, sometimes having too much space means you lack systems and organizational logic. For example, it might mean you are checking in multiple closets, on multiple floors, for an item - making it incredibly frustrating. We make it easy to remember exactly what is where so you are not roaming around looking for it.

From decluttering physical spaces to optimizing digital environments, we bring expertise, efficiency, and personalized solutions to transform your living or working spaces.
